Denita Smith, a 25-year-old graduate student in North Carolina, was murdered on January 4, 2007. Before her tragic death, Shannon Crawley, who had a complicated relationship with Denita’s fiancé, became extremely jealous. A confrontation ensued, as a result of which Denita was murdered. The investigation quickly leads to Shannon. Shannon was arrested and her trial was marked by arguments about the evidence and the witnesses. Ultimately, the jury found Shannon guilty of first-degree murder and sentenced her to life in prison without parole.
