Man struck and killed in hit-and-run west of Las Vegas Strip

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A man is dead after a hit-and-run accident early Sunday morning west of the Las Vegas Strip.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the first accident occurred around 4:41 a.m. on West Sahara Avenue, east of the intersection with South Valley View Boulevard.

An initial investigation revealed that a white 2021 Honda Accord sedan was traveling eastbound on the Sahara. At the same time, a 55-year-old man was crossing the Sahara desert outside a marked zebra crossing.

An accident occurred when the man crossed into the path of the Honda and was hit on the left side by the front of the vehicle. The Honda then fled the scene of the accident.

Police added that the man died at the scene.

“The pedestrian’s death is the 122nd traffic-related fatality in LVMPD’s jurisdiction,” an LVMPD news release said. “This collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD Collision Investigation Division.”
