Two arrested in Binghamton gun raid

BINGHAMTON, NY (WIVT/WBGH) – Two people were arrested in a massive gun raid in Binghamton on Saturday.

At approximately 1:20 a.m. on October 12, the Binghamton Police Community Response Team investigated a suspicious vehicle at 69 Collier Street.

During the investigation, officers discovered that the vehicle was occupied by two men. A handgun was also seen in the car. Both men were removed from the vehicle and officers conducted a search of the car.

During the search, officers recovered a 9mm Hi-Point C9 handgun, a loaded 9mm Ghost Pistol and a loaded 9mm Smith & Wesson Model 59 handgun. They also found a small amount of cocaine

The men in the vehicle were identified as Osciano Swartz, 21, of New Hartford and Andre Cooper, 21, of Binghamton.

The following charges are brought against both men:

  • Three counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon

  • Two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon

  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree

  • Three counts of criminal possession of a firearm

  • Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree

Swartz and Cooper were charged and released.
