Football – Müller sees a “positive trend” with the national team – Bavaria

Munich (dpa) – Former world champion Thomas Müller sees the German national soccer team basically on the right track. “I also think that we have a positive trend and, above all, that you see players who want to play for the spotlight.” Not because of the spotlight, but because they think it’s great to play for Germany,” said the offensive player from Bayern Munich before the Nations League game in Munich against the Netherlands on ZDF.

Before the party in the Allianz Arena, the 2014 world champions Müller (35), Manuel Neuer (38) and Toni Kroos (34) as well as former captain Ilkay Gündogan (33) were officially bid farewell by the national team. Müller liked the recent performances of her successors, especially the attitude: “You can see that in the actions, the spirit is good.”

However, Müller has problems with the public perception of the DFB team, which in his opinion has gone too far in extreme directions. If performance and results are poor, the “big picture” and the “training system” are quickly questioned “because we have completely lost touch.” With positive performances everything is “very, very good, actually nothing can stop us from the next three World Cups”.
