College Football Week 8 Odds, Schedule: Texas is the favorite at home against Georgia in the heavyweight matchup

College Football Week 8 Odds, Schedule: Texas is the favorite at home against Georgia in the heavyweight matchup

Last week’s meeting between Ohio State and Oregon lived up to the hype. Will Georgia follow suit this week in Texas? The Longhorns have the advantage by more than one field goal early in the week.

Texas has overcome the hurdles of Michigan and Oklahoma with flying colors, but those teams don’t appear to be as good as preseason expectations. However, Georgia is still one of the top teams in the country. The Bulldogs will be desperate for a win after already losing at Alabama.

Elsewhere in the SEC, Alabama takes on Tennessee in what almost feels like a College Football Playoff elimination game. Alabama has struggled since beating Georgia. The Crimson Tide lost at Vanderbilt and narrowly escaped at home against South Carolina last week. However, Tennessee had its own problems, particularly on the offensive side, and escaped with an overtime win at home against Florida. Both teams have a loss. Alabama is a slight favorite on the road.

The Big Ten also has two interesting matchups. Michigan will face Illinois in a top-25 matchup, although neither team has been particularly impressive of late. Michigan is coming off a bye week and has already suffered two losses. Illinois needed overtime to beat a 1-5 Purdue team. Michigan is favored by a field goal away from home.

In a game no one had ever played in before the season, undefeated Indiana faces a 5-1 Nebraska team for the first time looking to secure bowl eligibility for the first time in eight years. The Hoosiers have an advantage of about a touchdown.

Playoff contenders Miami, Notre Dame and LSU will get tryouts on Saturday. The Hurricanes are favored by less than a touchdown at Louisville, Notre Dame is a double-digit favorite at Georgia Tech and LSU is barely favored at Arkansas. Will any of these teams be upset and bring more chaos to the playoffs?

Five AP Top 25 teams are on byes this week: No. 3 Penn State, No. 4 Ohio State, No. 15 Boise State, No. 18 Ole Miss and No. 20 Pitt.

Here are the odds and schedule for every game featuring an AP Top 25 team, as well as some other notable games in Week 8.
