Video shows Cleveland police arresting a 41-year-old robbery suspect after the chase ends in a crash

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – New video shows Cleveland police officers arresting a 41-year-old robbery suspect after a chase ended in a crash at a busy highway intersection.

Officers said they were called to Fulton Avenue on the night of Oct. 3 to investigate an armed man who was breaking windows.

When they arrived, a 59-year-old man told officers he tried to stop the robber, but then he was robbed at gunpoint.

While police were on scene investigating, they heard gunshots.

Officials said shortly afterward, a second victim, a 31-year-old man, reported that the same suspect involved in the robbery shot him.

Fortunately, none of the victims were seriously injured, according to police.

The new video shows officers spot the suspect’s car at a red light around 9:40 p.m.

Police made a U-turn in their cruiser to follow the suspect, and a chase ensued, according to the video.

It eventually took the officers and the suspect to Fulton Road on I-71 and I-490 East.

According to police, the suspect lost control and crashed, causing a significant traffic jam.

The accident occurred in an apparent construction site and the suspect destroyed several traffic cones in the collision.

19 News were on scene as officers secured the victim’s property.

The suspect, whose name was not released, was taken into custody.

He was arrested on the following preliminary charges:

  • Aggravated robbery
  • Felony assault
  • Possession of a weapon while on disability
  • Criminal Harm
  • Crimes on the run and in escape
  • Improper handling of firearms in a motor vehicle
  • Tampering with evidence
  • Drug trafficking
  • Violation of state drug laws
  • Possession of criminal tools
