Caddo District Attorney discusses domestic violence and crime at community meetings

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – The Broadmoor Neighborhood Association had a special guest at Tuesday’s meeting.

Caddo Parish District Attorney James Stewart Sr. was invited to speak at the organization’s monthly meeting.

“I serve the public and have gone to several neighborhood meetings just talking about what the DA’s office has done,” he said.

Residents filled the room to listen to the district attorney’s words.

“You know, you have to run for these positions in the community. So you always want to come back and stay connected and make sure that citizens understand what you need and educate them because they might hear something. But by doing that, you’re talking directly to them about what’s going on,” Stewart said.

He discussed various topics including crime.

“This is Domestic Violence Month so the focus is on domestic violence and people caring for other people who may be in other situations. We also talked about how we address youth crime,” Stewart said.

The organization says it believes it is important to engage with elected officials.
