Pokémon leak may have revealed the title of the Detective Pikachu sequel

A sequel from 2019 Detective Pikachu may not be dead yet and is a current hack of according to Comicbook.com Pokémon Franchise developer Game Freak states that a sequel has been in the works since 2021. Several details of the film including its title which is said to be The Great Detective Pikachu, were found in the leak.




A lot of what was revealed in the leak had to do with that Pokémon video games, but one more movie-related information was found and that’s it Kong: Skull Island Director Jordan Vogt-Roberts is reportedly attached to the project.

Pokémon Dev Game Freak suffers major data breach

Pokémon developer Game Freak has suffered a major data breach, leaking source code, employee information and the Switch 2 codename.

So far there is not confirmation of this The Great Detective Pikachu will happen as a sequel was reportedly scheduled for release in 2024. It can be assumed that this is no longer the case since it is so late in the year and there has been no official statement from anyone at The Pokémon Company, a sequel is currently still a rumor.

Detective Pikachu has been in the works for some time

In March 2023, Jonathan Krisel (Tim and Eric: Great show, great job!) was hired to direct and the script was to be written by Chris Galletta (Kings of Summer). The original Detective Pikachu The film was directed by Rob Letterman and co-written by Dan Hernandez, Benji Samit and Derek Connolly.

Reynolds also starred in the summer blockbuster Deadpool and Wolverine, which continues to break records as it is now released on digital and soon physical media. The film is the highest-grossing live-action film of 2024 and the highest R-rated film of all time. To date, the film has grossed $1.3 billion at the worldwide box office.

Deadpool and Wolverine, the third film in the Dead Pool franchise, albeit the first under the Disney umbrella, is now fighting for nomination spots for major awards. Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are hoping for an award for best actress in a comedy or musical.

Reynolds is aiming for one of six Best Actor nominations at the Golden Globes and Jackman is hoping for a Best Supporting Actor nomination at the Golden Globes, Critics Choice, Screen Actors Guild Awards and Oscars. The film itself is vying for top spots in technical categories.


Detective Pikachu is currently streaming on FreeVeeAmazon’s free ad-supported streamer. Deadpool and Wolverine is currently available on digital platforms and will be released on 4K Blu-ray and DVD on October 22nd.
