Search in Ilmenau – New search for missing student started – Panorama

Melbeck (dpa) – The renewed search for the student who disappeared at a party on Ilmenau has begun. “Divers and a sonar boat are searching the river between Melbeck in Lower Saxony and Lüneburg for the 19-year-old,” said a police spokesman. Unlike on Tuesday, however, neither helicopters nor riot police were in action. The spokesman explained that the search is no longer primarily for a missing person, “but for a body.”

According to police, the 19-year-old was drunk when he disappeared without a trace on Saturday night. The young man had celebrated a party with other students from Hamburg at a campsite on the Ilmenau in Melbeck. The 19-year-old was last seen there around 11 p.m. on Friday. The students planned to spend the night on the premises. The missing person is a first-semester student at the Technical University of Hamburg.
