Six months after the birth of her daughter Bella, Olympic champion Belinda Bencic is celebrating her comeback in Hamburg.

The gold medalist from Tokyo will be competing at the ITF 75 tournament in Hamburg (October 27th to November 3rd), as the Hamburg Tennis Association announced. The Swiss receives a wildcard.

Daughter with us

“I want to test myself competitively to see what we have to work on in order to start the next season in top shape,” said Bencic, who wants to bring her daughter with her to Hamburg: “We also want to see how everyday life at the tournament is .” Bella can manage it logistically.”

The former number 4 in the world rankings has won 7 tournaments on the WTA tour over the course of her career. The highlight was the three-set victory in the Olympic final in Tokyo against the Czech Marketa Vondrousova.

Bencic played her last match on the tour on September 12, 2023 at the WTA tournament in San Diego, where she lost to Belarusian qualifier Aljaksandra Sasnowitsch in round 1.
