What does Novak Djokovic after the “Six Kings Slam” in Saudi Arabia? An early end to the season does not seem to be out of the question.

What’s next for Novak Djokovic?

After reaching the final in Shanghai, Novak Djokovic went straight to Saudi Arabia. The controversial “Six Kings Slam” is taking place there these days, in which the Serbian grandmaster – like Rafael Nadal – is already in the semi-finals thanks to a bye. It is unclear what the 37-year-old planned to do after the show event in Riyadh.

As Djokovic has recently emphasized several times, the regular tournaments on the tour no longer have the highest priority at this phase of his career. This also applies to the ATP Finals, for which the 24-time Grand Slam winner has not yet qualified. If Djokovic’s chances have increased after the good result in Shanghai, the Serb will not base his tournament planning for the rest of the year on the finals.

Translated: The probability that Djokovic will accept a wildcard for Vienna or Basel is close to zero. What is much more realistic is that the world number four will return to the tour at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Paris-Bercy (October 28th to November 3rd). Or – in the case of his qualification – even in Turin (November 10th to 17th).

However, it cannot be completely ruled out that Djokovic will announce his early end to the season in the coming days – with a view to the Australian Open 2025. Although the 37-year-old won gold at the Olympic Games this year, the season was not entirely satisfactory for him. For the first time in seven years, Djokovic remained without a single Grand Slam title in a calendar year.
