Youtube gets many new features | News

YouTube is still one of the leading video portals worldwide. The platform, which belongs to Google, is constantly adding new functions: for example, automatically generated subtitles can now be generated and the company is trying to compete with TikTok in particular with the short videos known as “shorts”. YouTube is now announcing over two dozen improvements in its in-house blog that are aimed at both creators and subscribers. The video-on-demand service goes into detail about some of the new features.

Playback speed, mini player and other elements improved
Up to now, the playback speed can be adjusted in 0.25 increments; in the future, YouTube will allow a much finer configuration in 0.05 increments. The company also promises some visual improvements to the app and website, including the mini player: This is no longer assigned to a specific location on the interface, so users can maneuver it to other corners and change its size. The application for Smart TVs is also not left out and should gain dynamism thanks to color accents. Anyone watching Shorts on the television can interact with the content using the new user interface without having to interrupt the video. In this way, users have the opportunity, for example, to access the shop or read comments while the video continues to run unhindered.

Users can boast of collected badges
Playlists can be better personalized and added text and filters. In addition, other users can make additions by using a corresponding link or QR code. Also new: So-called “badges” are finding their way into the YouTube (Music) app on mobile devices. Users receive these awards for special mistakes, such as being among the first paying members of a channel. In the future, the sleep timer will not only be reserved for YouTube Premium subscribers and the smartphone app will have larger text and larger preview images in landscape format. This change is expected to reach iOS users this year, but YouTube is not revealing when the rollout of the other innovations will begin.
