Spotify is expanding its music video feature to 85 more countries


It’s been just over half a year since Spotify added music videos to its service, although only as a beta test in 11 countries. Now this is expanding dramatically to 85 more countries.

The feature is still in beta, but has some new improvements: ads on audio tracks so users can see when a video is available to watch, and music videos now appear in search results.

When Spotify announced the expansion, it also released some statistics about the impact so far. “Users who discover a song and then watch the music video on Spotify are, on average, 34% more likely to stream the song again the following week,” it said. “And on average, songs discovered with music videos are 24% more likely to be saved or shared by viewers in the following week.”

There’s also a new Video & Visuals tab on the Spotify for Artists dashboard to help artists manage their music videos, as well as Canvas videos and short clips.
