Successful start for Stan Wawrinka (ATP 217) at the ATP tournament in Stockholm. The 39-year-old from Vaud defeated Brandon Nakashima – the American world number 38 – 6:4, 6:4. The party lasted 1:20 hours and Wawrinka only needed one break in both sets to move into the round of 16. In this game he will play against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina (ATP 64) from Spain on Thursday.

Dominic Stricker (ATP 317) is already in the quarterfinals. The 22-year-old from Bern defeated the Italian Matteo Berrettini (ATP 42) 7:6, 6:4 in 1:48 hours. In the evenly balanced first set, Stricker showed nerves in the tiebreak. He was 2:5 behind, fought back and was able to use the first set point. Stricker’s quarterfinal opponent is not yet known.
