Fani Willis asks Georgia appeals court to reinstate six counts against Trump, co-defendants: report

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is reportedly asking a Georgia appeals court to reinstate six of her original counts against former President Trump and his co-defendants in their 2020 election case after a judge dismissed the charges earlier this year.

As the Atlanta Journal-Constitution first reported Wednesday, Willis filed a brief with the Georgia Court of Appeals asking to overturn Fulton County Judge Scott McAfee’s decision to dismiss charges against Trump and his allies.

GEORGIAN JUDGE DISCLAIMS TWO CRIMINAL CHARGES AGAINST TRUMP IN FANI WILLIS’ 2020 ELECTION INTERFERENCE CASE

McAfee dismissed six of the charges against Trump in March, saying Willis had not provided enough details.

Last month, McAfee also dismissed two additional criminal charges against Trump, saying prosecutors in Willis and Georgia did not have the authority to bring the charges related to the alleged filing of false documents in federal court.

McAfee, however, stuck to the racketeering charge filed against all defendants.

The lead Trump defense attorney in the case, Steve Sadow, told Fox News Digital that Willis’ brief was “just wrong under the law.”

“The trial court’s dismissal order correctly held that the State failed to adequately plead the allegations in the dismissed counts under Georgia law,” Sadow said.

The case stalled when it was revealed that Willis was reportedly having an “inappropriate affair” with Nathan Wade, a prosecutor she had hired to launch the case against Trump. Wade later resigned.

FANI WILLIS only has to expect setbacks in the case against TRUMP

In June, the Georgia Court of Appeals paused proceedings until it heard the case disqualifying Willis, another major setback for Willis.

The Georgia appeals court said it will hear Trump’s argument to have Willis disqualified on Dec. 5, a month after the 2024 presidential election.

Trump pleaded not guilty to all charges.
