Huntsville man charged with involuntary manslaughter in Meridian St. shooting

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – A Huntsville man has been charged in the shooting death of a 22-year-old on Meridian Street.

Officials with the Huntsville Police Department say 21-year-old Jordan Latrell Smith was booked into the Madison County Jail and charged with reckless homicide.

The shooting happened at a gas station shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday evening

Damien Obrien Manning, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials say a second victim remains hospitalized in critical condition.

The Huntsville Police Department Major Crimes Unit is investigating. More arrests are expected.
