“New Jersey Blues” music video by 070 Shake with girlfriend Lily-Rose Depp

“New Jersey Blues” music video by 070 Shake with girlfriend Lily-Rose Depp

New Jersey rapper and singer 070 Shake, the pride of North Bergen, gets a little jersey in her latest music video.

Shake, 27, a rapper and singer who goes by the name Danielle Balbuena, rose to fame through songs with Kanye West.

Her new two-part song “Winter Baby / New Jersey Blues” is the first single from her upcoming third album “Petrichor,” due out November 15th.

Shake’s friend, actress Lily-Rose Depp, appears with her in the music video (see below). In an Instagram post sharing a clip, Shake called Depp her “muse.”

Depp, 25, the daughter of actor Johnny Depp and French singer and actress Vanessa Paradis, has been in a relationship with Shake since 2023.

The retro-tinged new song comes with a vintage-style music video to match, which begins with Depp throwing a coin into a jukebox and selecting the song “Winter Baby / New Jersey Blues” by “070 & The Shakes.”

In the Bennett Watanabe-directed video, Depp then dances around in a shimmery pink dress to the first “Winter Baby” part of the song while Shake looks on.

The understated, jangly, 1960s-inspired chorus of “Be My Winter Baby” then gives way to a harder sound as “New Jersey Blues” begins about halfway through the song as Deep continues to dance and enunciate the words.

“New Jersey blues, my baby gets me through, cherry syrup medicine cures nightmares too,” Shake sings. “Toxic fumes, processed food, I’ve paid my debts, I’ve done my time, now I’m coming home to you.”

In 2022, Shake was featured on British singer Raye’s song “Escapism”, which charted at number 22 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Her prefix “070” identifies her as a member of the 070 Crew, a collective of local artists from and around North Bergen – zip code 07047.

The North Bergen High School graduate was a shooting guard on the school’s basketball team. The “shake” in their name comes from the “shake weave,” a popular play on the court.

070 Shake released their debut album, Modus Vivendi, in 2020 and their second album, You Can’t Kill Me, in 2022, all on Kanye West’s GOOD Music label, which was then part of Def Jam.

After Shake signed to the label in 2016, GOOD released their EP “Glitter” in 2018.

The Jersey artist brought a fresh sound to Kanye West songs “Ghost Town” and “Violent Crimes” from his 2018 album Ye.

Shake can also be heard on “Santeria” from Pusha T’s 2018 album Daytona and “Not for Radio” from Nas’ 2018 album Nasir.
