According to the National Autonomous Testing Agency (NTA), nearly 11,000 candidates have registered for the June 2024 UGC NET exam. However, only about 900,000 candidates appeared for the test, reflecting a slight decline in participation. The exam determines eligibility for an assistant professorship and a Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) at universities and colleges across India.

The UGC NET is one of the most competitive examinations at the national level and participation statistics demonstrate the test’s continued importance in shaping academic careers.

The UGC NET exam was canceled in four centers due to technical issues or floods. The affected centers were the Dr. Ghanshyam Singh College of Education in Varanasi, Shankara Group of Institutions in Jaipur, Amatyas Global IT Solution in Jamnagar and Jainee College of Engineering and Technology in Dindigul. The NTA has announced that there will be no re-evaluation or review of the results and that no correspondence will be entered into regarding the matter.
