The Wisconsin Crime Lab conducted DNA testing on the remains, including a skull and bones, to confirm it was Vue. Police said the family was notified once DNA testing confirmed the identity of the remains.

“The family is devastated. We are devastated. Our community is devastated,” Two Rivers Police Chief Benjamin Meinnert said. “I never met Elijah, but I saw how this three-year-old boy brought the best out of this community.”

“Elijah was a little guy, but he left a big impact on all of us and we will not forget him,” Two Rivers Deputy Police Chief Melissa Wiesner said.

Police said the location where Vue’s remains were found was just over five kilometers from where he went missing. Meinnert said different teams had previously searched the area near Manitou Drive several times.

Vue went missing from his Two Rivers home on February 20th. Vue’s mother, Katrina Baur, and her boyfriend, Jesse Vang, are still in prison – both facing child neglect charges, but are not currently directly linked to the boy’s disappearance and death.
