Two of California’s top high school football teams meet in a Trinity League battle on Friday when top-ranked Mater Dei takes on JSerra.

The Monarchs are ranked No. 1 in the SBLive/SI Top 25 national rankings and will try to stay perfect Friday against a JSerra team that, despite back-to-back wins, is still ranked No. 8 in the Southern Section rankings. Losses back.

It wasn’t the most exciting game of the season, but the Monarchs got their business done in last week’s 28-6 victory over previously unbeaten Servite.

Oregon-bound running back Jordon Davison scored the first touchdown of the game, but Washington native Dash Beierly took over from there.

The senior quarterback threw three touchdown passes, including a 26-yard touchdown that Kayden Dixon-Wyatt hauled in with just one hand (VIDEO).

The Lions got off to a 5-0 start earlier in the season, but they enter this season after two straight losses to two of the top 10 teams in the state.

Things don’t get much easier for JSerra after that, as the Lions face Santa Margarita (No. 17 in California) next week before closing out the season on the road against No. 2 national team St. John Bosco.
