This will help you keep an eye on shared content

Where was that funny after-work meme that I sent to my colleagues? And what source did the article I shared a week ago come from? A new feature from Instagram is designed to help you easily find content that you have sent or received.

Social library discovered in new iOS beta

Social Library is the name of the area that Instagram is currently working on. It was discovered by developer Alessandro Paluzzi, who often reports on leaks from Instagram. He shared his find with his followers on threads. He discovered the feature in the new beta for iOS.

In the social library, according to Paluzzi, you can “find posts, Reels and media that you have shared or received in chat threads, collections and likes”. A magnifying glass icon in Paluzzi’s screenshot indicated that you could search the library using keywords.

This is what the leak reveals about the Social Library

In addition to the magnifying glass, other buttons can be seen in the screenshot: the paper airplane with which you can share posts, the heart with which you like content and the bookmark icon with which you can save posts. It can be assumed that the content archived in the Social Library will be divided into these three sectors.

That’s why an overview of interaction in chats will be necessary

The Social Library promises to be a useful feature for all Instagram users who often communicate via direct messages or shares instead of communicating via the feed. A tool that cleans up and creates order is certainly welcome here.

The shift towards DMs is a trend that has become noticeable on Instagram in recent years. The platform moves away from the stage of self-expression for a large audience. Instead, they move into smaller, more intimate spaces.

Instagram boss Adam Mosseri discovered this as early as 2022. “Friends post a lot more to Stories and send a lot more DMs than they post to the feed,” he noted in a post on his platform.

It is not yet known when and whether the Social Library will be available to all users. Instagram has not yet commented on the leak.
