In September, 18 people were killed in shots fired at two houses.

National police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe said the South African Police Service (SAPS) believed it had recovered the large-caliber firearms used in the commission of the crime.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that the firearms were moved to another location after the murder of the eighteen Lusikisiki.

“Two other suspects were arrested after they were found to be in possession of these rifles. The pair were arrested in Flagstaff in the Eastern Cape.

“The large-caliber firearms were subjected to ballistics testing to determine and confirm that they were actually used in the commission of the crime and also to determine what other crime scenes can be linked to them.”
