Wear OS 5 for Galaxy Watch 6 and older: Beta testing is still ongoing

Wear OS 5 for Galaxy Watch 6 and older: Beta testing is still ongoing

Google introduced massive errors when shipping Wear OS 5 and even had to stop distribution. Meanwhile, Samsung is a little less hasty and has a long testing phase for the new software, which has now reached Beta 8. The new test version is now reaching the Galaxy Watch 6 in the first market.

Samsung now seems to place a particularly high value on seamlessly functioning software. The test phase is therefore very long. The big Android 15 update for smartphones has even been decided not to be distributed until next year, at least two months later than usual in recent years.

Interestingly, we had already spoken of “final testing phase” for Wear OS 5 for Galaxy Watch models in the summer, but almost three months later Samsung is still not finished with the tests. It seems almost unlikely that Wear OS 5 with OneUI 6 Watch will be available this year.

Incidentally, the update is planned for all older generations, including Galaxy Watch 6, 5 and 4. This is due to their good update policy and the long promises that are also made for the watches. The Galaxy Watch 4 will probably be out next year; it will be four years old in the summer of 2025.
