Amazon surprisingly presents the new Fire TV Stick HD

Due to a patent dispute with Nokia, Amazon is currently no longer allowed to sell the Fire TV Stick 4K. The Fire TV Stick and Fire TV Stick Lite are not affected by this and Amazon has now surprisingly introduced a Fire TV Stick HD, which is supposed to replace the two new models.

While the Fire TV Stick is no longer available, the Fire TV Stick Lite is still sold. The better choice from now on is the Fire TV Stick HD, which quickly comes with identical technical data, but has HDMI Arc on board. In addition, the HD version includes the Alexa voice remote control, which also allows buttons for quick access to Prime Video or Netflix. You can freely program two additional buttons.

You also plug the Fire TV Stick HD into the HDMI port on the television, connect it to power and can then access numerous services and streaming services. The resolution of this model is limited to 1080p Full HD and is therefore particularly suitable for older televisions that do not yet support 4K.

Personally, I think full HD on 4K TVs is terrible. When you bring modern technology into your home, you also want to see sharp images. Linear TV is often not available in 4K, but numerous content on YouTube, Netflix, Disney, Prime Video and Co. are available in 4K – the difference is clearly visible.

Fire TV Stick 4K still available at MediaMarkt

While Amazon is no longer allowed to sell the Fire TV Stick 4K and 4K Max, you can buy them from MediaMarkt without restrictions. The Fire TV Stick 4K is currently available for 59 euros instead of 69 euros, while the top model Fire TV Stick 4K Max currently costs 69 euros instead of 79 euros. It is currently unknown whether sales at MediaMarkt will also be stopped.
