Google Chrome: Autofill function for Android opens – users will soon be able to select external tools

Users of Google Chrome for Android Are always supported by the practical autofill function, which can automatically fill in the same information in form fields. However, if an external app was used for this task, things could quickly become confusing. That will change soon, because the next version of Chrome will open it up to external providers.

Chrome Autofill is a handy tool that can automatically fill or suggest data from name to address to phone number or credit card information. As is well known, there are also many external tools that usually offer a greater range of functions and can be integrated into the browser interface. This has often resulted in duplicate suggestions, overlays, or other awkward situations. This should change from version 131 onwards.

Starting with the next version, users will be able to choose whether they want to use the Chrome function or an external tool when autofill is activated. If you choose the second option, Chrome will continue to respect the autofill framework and thus trigger the other tools, but will no longer display suggestions itself. This should work quite smoothly and ensure that the suggestions are clearer and the use of external apps is more convenient.

It is quite possible that there will still be a few stumbling blocks in the weeks, which depends on the external apps and their implementation of the first integration. However, larger and well-maintained tools should be able to do this quickly and test them in beta versions so that users can continue to have form fields filled out automatically without service interruption.
