That diagnosis is questioned by Roberson’s defense attorneys. The courts relied one-sidedly on the fact that the girl died from shaken baby syndrome; other causes were not sufficiently examined. The lawyers argue that Nikki suffered from incorrectly treated pneumonia. She was a sickly child anyway, according to the Washington Post. Roberson took his daughter to the doctors 45 times in a short period of time.
