Delphi murder trial begins for accused murderer Richard Allen – Indianapolis News | Indiana Weather | Indiana traffic

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Seven years, eight months and five days since Abby Williams and Libby German went missing in Delphi, the trial of accused murderer Richard Allen is about to begin.

Allen, 52, is charged with murder and murder in commission or attempted kidnapping in connection with the deaths of 13-year-old Abigail “Abby” Williams and 14-year-old Liberty “Libby” German. The girls’ bodies were found near the Monon High Bridge near Delphi on February 14, 2017, a day after their disappearance. Allen was arrested in October 2022.

Allen’s defense has filed a response to the prosecution’s motion in Limine regarding composite sketches. Judge Francis Gull is expected to rule on that request today.

The prosecution then argued that the sketches were inadmissible because they were intended as an “investigative tool to generate leads” and were irrelevant. The defense argues that the sketches are a compilation of people seen by witnesses on the bridge on the day of the murders and that they do not look like Richard Allen and are therefore highly relevant.
