Insomniac is preparing to screen Marvel’s ‘Wolverine’ soon, an insider claims

The developer behind it Marvel’s Spider-Man is apparently preparing to debut his Wolverine game, and some signs suggest that will be the case this week.

Insomniac originally announced Marvel’s Wolverine with a teaser trailer in September 2021, but we haven’t heard anything from the project since then.

Beyond the initial reveal, the only information about the title came through leaks and last year’s hacking incident in which stolen documents claimed it was scheduled for release in 2026, following a Venom semi-episode for Spider-Man 2 the next Year.

While it’s unclear whether this release plan was authentic or has changed since then, Insomniac appears to be planning to unveil Wolverine in some form before the end of the year.

According to video game insider and dataminer Kurakasis, Sony is preparing to “unveil some new stuff from Marvel’s Wolverine” and speculates that it will happen sometime this year, either at the Game Awards or at a “top-secret event.”

While December’s Game Awards would be the obvious contender, a Marvel Games panel is scheduled to take place at New York Comic-Con later today at 4:45pm ET, which is 9:45pm BST in the UK.

Kurakasis, who has a solid track record with gaming leaks, acknowledged the panel at New York Comic-Con, adding, “Yeah, I think we should keep an eye on this event too.”

Insomniac attended New York Comic-Con last year, where it unveiled several new suits for Spider-Man 2 before its launch later this month. So it’s entirely possible that they’ll show up again this year.

The Marvel Games panel is expected to last 30 minutes, but there are plenty of other Marvel games in development alongside Wolverine. Marvel Rivals will likely be shown in some capacity before its release on December 6th, but we also know about Marvel’s Blade, an Iron Man game from EA, a standalone Black Panther title, and Marvel 1943: Rise Of Hydra.

However, we’ve known Marvel’s Wolverine for longer than most of these games, so development is likely much further along.

If it doesn’t appear at Comic-Con, we’ll likely see more of Wolverine at the Game Awards on December 12th, unless Sony decides to hold a State Of Play before then. However, Sony hasn’t put on a show after September in recent years, so Geoff Keighley’s party is probably the safer bet.

Wolverine is said to be Insomniac’s first Marvel game outside of Spider-Man and is set in the same universe.
