🥈 Prominent VfL predecessor: Gladbacher Juwel receives Fritz Walter Medal

Luca Netz, Marc-André ter Stegen – and now Kilian Sauck. The Gladbach jewel was awarded the Fritz Walter Medal in silver on Friday. The honor is given to the best German talents in their respective year.

“The technically adept midfielder not only impressed with his creativity and dribbling in the club, but also stood out particularly well with the U17 national team during the Algarve Cup,” said the DFB, explaining its decision for the second winner in the U17 age group.

Before Sauck, Luca Netz was the last person from Borussia to be honored. In 2022 he only has to give way to a conscientious Florian Wirtz in the U19 area. In the same age range, VfL homegrown Marc-André ter Stegen was at the top in 2011 and, as is well known, went on to have a career.

Hopefully this is still ahead of the 17-year-old Sauck from a foal perspective. The speed dribbler already trained with the professionals during summer preparation. According to reports, the teenager will still have to improve physically in order to be able to gain a foothold in the men’s division.
