Girl accused of stabbing two in Carbondale

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KFVS) – A teenage female was taken into custody in connection with a stabbing in Carbondale.

Officers were called to a disturbance in the 300 block of East Birch Street just before 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 18th.

When they arrived, officers reported finding two victims who had been stabbed.

Officials said the victims were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police identified the suspected stabber as a female juvenile who was familiar with the victims.

They said some argument led to the stabbing.

The suspect was taken into custody for aggravated assault.

Police said the suspect was released to a family member after several juvenile detention centers were unwilling or unable to accept the girl.

According to Carbondale Police, their investigation into the case is active and ongoing.
