Man dies nearly three months after being shot in Minneapolis

A 25-year-old man has died months after a shooting in Minneapolis’ central neighborhood, police said.

According to the Hennepin County Coroner, Johnny Birzavi Sanchez Sanchez died Wednesday morning as a result of a gunshot wound to the neck.

Sanchez died months after the July 25 shooting at North Memorial Health Hospital.

As 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS reported at the time, Minneapolis police said they were called to a shooting at the intersection of 31st Street East and Clinton Avenue around 2:30 p.m. that day. Officers found Sanchez and rendered aid to him until emergency medical services arrived.

Police believe shots were fired from a vehicle but are still working to determine what led to the shooting.
