New streaming TV shows and movies on Netflix, Prime Video, Hulu, Apple TV, Disney+ and more

What to see this weekend.

We’re halfway through October and it’s already starting to feel more like fall – or in my case, winter. We had our first snowfall! I’m not ready for this. On the other hand, it also means the weather is more conducive to staying indoors and watching the latest movies and TV shows on the countless streaming services we subscribe to these days.

Every week I scour the internet for the best new movies, shows, cartoons, documentaries, and whatever else I can find and publish them in this weekend streaming guide. I also go through what’s coming out weekly, focusing on the shows I’m covering. Feel free to share any tips and recommendations with me TwitterInstagram or Facebook. I also tend to include at least one movie release per week because I love going to the movies.

Not all of these are shows or movies that I really recommend. I haven’t seen all of them and some look really bad. I’m just sharing what’s out there, and while I offer my opinions on some of it, this guide is really just to inform you and give you a chance to form your own opinion. New shows and movies

Brothers (Prime Video)

A pretty star-studded cast makes up this caper film, available now on Prime Video. Peter Dinklage and Josh Brolin play brothers (which reminds me of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny Devito as twins). Gemini). They’re joined by Glenn Close and Brendan Fraser in a film that doesn’t have many reviews yet, but sounds like it could be reasonably entertaining.

The Office Australian Remake (Prime Video)

I’ve already talked about how bad this remake is The office It looks like it, so I’m assuming this is less of a “what to watch” entry and more of a “what to avoid” entry. This should be easy for Americans who, like most of the rest of the world, don’t have access to this series on Prime Video. Oh no! I realize I judge a show solely by its trailer, but this is a deeply unfunny trailer that seems to miss everything that made the British and American versions so great. Maybe it was a bad idea!

The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3 (Netflix)

I still haven’t seen a single episode of The Lincoln Lawyer, Although I know it’s pretty popular and people seem to like it and the Michael Connelly books it’s based on. Season 3 is now available on Netflix and has a 100% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which is pretty good for a third season of anything. Should I take a look at this? Maybe I should take a look at this. Will I remember this? That’s a harder question to answer. . . .

Elsbeth Season 2 (Paramount)

Another series that I haven’t seen but seems to be getting pretty good reviews from critics and audiences. It is a spin-off of The good woman and Carrie Preston’s character Elsbeth Tascioni from that series. The procedural comedy follows its titular theme by playing both a lawyer and a detective. Kind of a running theme this weekend!

MaXXXine (Max)

I thought MaXXXine looked pretty interesting, but not interesting enough to bring to the cinema. Now the Mia Goth-led horror drama is playing on Max, which seems kind of weird to me. MaXXXine on Max to the max! Kevin Bacon, Elizabeth Debicki and Giancarlo Esposito also star. Of course, this is the third part of a trilogy after Ti Wests X And pearl and I haven’t seen that yet either. I guess I could do a triple feature on a snowy day.

Rumors (in the cinema)

Cate Blanchett and Charles Dance. What else do you need to know? The film follows the leaders of the most powerful nations at the G7 summit as they get lost in the forest – and face unspeakable horrors. It looks pretty fun. The line in the trailer where one of the leaders describes the zombies trying to get them and Blanchett’s character replies, “Protesters?” “That’s what I thought at first,” he replies. Or the Canadian Prime Minister shouting, “I love strong women!” as he pushes another man. “I love her too much!” Alicia Vikander, Takehiro Hira and more join the cast.

This is the new thing. Now let’s take a look at the many series that are currently streaming, many of which I write about here on this blog.

Disclaimer (Apple TV)

Speaking of Cate Blanchett, she and Kevin Kline star in this psychological thriller from Mexican filmmaker Alfonso Cuarón. The series is based on the novel by Renée Knight and follows journalist Catherine Ravenscroft (Blanchett) as a mysterious novel threatens to turn her entire life upside down. Even though I’m writing these instructions and this was on my radar, I actually checked it out! There’s just been so much to see lately. I’ll be back soon and get back to you. New episodes appear on Fridays.

Sweet pea (Starz)

Two episodes of the murder drama Ella Purnell sweet pea are available now on Starz and so far I’m really liking it. Purnell is superb as young Rhiannon, a British wallflower struggling to find her voice – and when she does, it’s frighteningly deadly. I posted my review of the first episode. New episodes appear every Friday on Starz.

Teacup (peacock)

I’m one episode behind tea cup, But so far I’m really liking the new horror series, it has a similar vibe to MGM’s OUT OF. A mysterious creature or disaster has caused the animals to behave strangely, the cars won’t start, and the small group of characters are trapped on the rural property of Maggie and James Chenoweth (Yvonne Strahovksi and Scott Speedman). Gore, suspense, mystery, infidelity, obsession – this has the makings of a great show, but I haven’t decided yet. I posted my review of the premiere of the two-part series.

The Legend Of Vox Machina Season 3 (Prime Video)

We’re now three quarters of the way through the third season of the best fantasy show on Prime Video: The Legend of Vox Machina. I like this so much more than Rings of power or The Wheel of Time. It‘That’s not even close. The series is hilarious but has a lot of heart—and lots of very inappropriate humor. You can read my interviews with the actors here. Three new episodes are available every Thursday on Prime Video.

The Franchise (HBO)

I‘I’m also a little behind on this new HBO comedy, but I found the season premiere of The franchise Pretty entertaining, if not laugh out loud funny. A strong cast and short episodes make this a very digestible little comedy about the shenanigans that go on behind the scenes of a blockbuster superhero movie. New episodes appear on Sundays.

Daryl Dixon Season 2 – The Book Of Carol (AMC)

I continue to hope that things will get better The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon—The book Carol, But from what I’ve already seen halfway through the season, that’s not going to happen. It’s just an incredibly lazy series with ridiculous stories and characters who constantly do really stupid shit but are protected from their bad decisions by layer upon layer of plot armor. The walking dead It used to be must-see television, but years of mismanagement and AMC’s reliance on the wrong people have led us to this sad state. Read my review of Episode 3 here. Agatha All Along (Disney+)

I enjoy it Agatha all the time more every week and their latest episode was the best since the series premiere – thankfully we took a break from The Witch’s Road and its various trials to give us some much-needed backstory and a healthy dose of humor. Kathryn Hahn continues to be an absolute sweetheart. Read my review of episode 6 here. New episodes arrive on Disney+ every Wednesday.

The Penguin (HBO/Max)

I really enjoyed it The penguin until now. I think it’s nice to have an adult comic series like this, which we haven’t had in a long time, maybe not anymore Guardian. The really surprising tidbit that I wasn’t really expecting was how great Cristin Milioti is as Sofia Falcone, who got her own backstory last week. She is great! AB Season 3 (MGM+)

We’re four episodes into the new season of OUT OF and it’s everything I hoped it would be, although I still roll my eyes from time to time, or basically whenever one of the idiot extras gets a line. If they do anything different in Season 4, I hope it improves the quality of the townspeople or just eliminates the extras altogether. I’m not convinced we need that many residents, and this show would be much tighter if it had a smaller cast made up only of people we really care about. Getting rid of extras is cheap and lame. Still, I love the super scary new seasons. You can read my review of episode 4 here. New episodes stream Sundays on MGM+.

Only Murders In The Building Season 4 (Hulu)

Lately I’ve been trying to figure out who the killer might be in the excellent fourth season of Just murders in the building. I’ve successfully spotted some red herrings and guessed why our favorite podcast detectives are on the wrong track, but I still don’t know who the killer might be – although I have a theory you won’t like. We’re almost at the end of the season and I’m still not sure what’s always fun in a crime thriller. New episodes land on Hulu on Tuesdays.
