New training plan for Australian MotoGP 2024

Update: The exercise plan was revised again.

Friday afternoon MotoGP practice will now revert to the standard one-hour session at 3pm local time, rather than the scheduled 80-minute session (due to the cancellation of FP1).

The last free practice session on Saturday morning continues to last 40 minutes instead of the usual 30 minutes.

A revised Australian MotoGP training schedule has been announced following the cancellation of FP1 at Phillip Island.

Heavy rain delayed the opening training session by almost two hours before it was finally cancelled.

Not only was rain pelting down, but the water appeared to be sitting on the new track surface rather than draining through it, creating the risk of aquaplaning on the super-fast seaside circuit.

The new schedule will see Friday’s afternoon practice session, which also serves to determine the top ten drivers with direct access to Qualifying 2, extended from the usual hour to one hour and 20 minutes.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at the scheduled time of 3:00 p.m. local time.
