Pat Mahomes Sr., a former Major League Baseball player and father of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, appeared to invoke his famous son’s name when he was stopped by police last February.

According to police video footage obtained by TMZ, Mahomes pleaded with officers while handcuffed and mentioned his son’s name several times.

“Can I say something?” Mahomes Sr. began. “My son is getting ready to play in the damn Super Bowl.”

Mahomes Sr. admitted he had “a little drink” before expressing concerns that the arrest could harm his son and the Chiefs as they prepare for the Super Bowl. “I’m not drunk, I promise you. I had a few drinks but he can’t have that now. This can’t happen.”

The elder Mahomes was eventually charged with drunken driving.

Police conducted a traffic stop because Mahomes Sr. was driving a vehicle whose registration had expired. Officers took him into custody after he failed field sobriety tests, police reported.

Mahomes Sr. further explained that the car he was driving at the time was a gift and that he would have the appropriate registration in the “next day or two.”

CHIEFS-49ERS “WILL BE THE HIGHEST NFL GAME SO FAR IN 2024.”

“We’ve never had a star around here and now we have the chance to be a star and now there’s going to be a scandal,” he said. “…We’re going to have a scandal for no reason because when he gave me the car, my license plate hadn’t arrived yet, which will probably happen in the next day or two.”

The official told Mahomes Sr. that he couldn’t set any expectations “based on who you are.”

“Look, here’s my thing, I don’t plan on making this a bigger deal than it is, but unfortunately, like you said, I have a job that I have to do and I can’t do it because of that alone Change person. “It’s you,” the officer noted.

Despite hearing the official’s information, Mahomes expressed concern that the situation would harm his son and predicted it would negatively impact the Chiefs – if the team ultimately lost the big game.

“Dude, this is crazy. My son is getting ready to play in the fucking Super Bowl and I’m doing interviews, five or six a day, and then, now, this shit is going to be on the news, it’s going to fuck with him, and it’s probably going to fuck him up.” said Mahomes Sr. “And he probably won’t win the Super Bowl. But that’s okay. If that’s what you all want to do, that’s good.”

Mahomes Sr.’s blood alcohol content (BAC) was reported at 0.23, which is nearly three times the legal limit in Texas.

Mahomes Sr. was finally able to travel to Las Vegas to watch his son win the third Super Bowl title of his career.

However, the elder Mahomes received a five-year probation sentence after agreeing to plead guilty to a drunken driving charge for a third or more time and reaching a deal with prosecutors.

Tyler, Texas news station KLTV reported that Mahomes Sr. was required to continue attending Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings as a condition of the deal. He also had to serve 10 days in prison.
