Manchester United will be without numerous key players against Brentford this afternoon.

Alejandro Garnacho, Kobbie Mainoo and Amad Diallo all withdrew from international duty last week and returned early to Manchester for assessment.

While Garnacho and Amad trained this week, Mainoo will be sidelined for “a few weeks”, in a major setback to Erik ten Hag’s first team plans.

There are also major concerns on defense. Harry Maguire has also been added to the injury list with a knee problem sustained in the goalless draw against Aston Villa last time out. Like Mainoo, he is expected to be out until early November.

Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are still unavailable for selection, but there is good news regarding Noussair Mazraoui, who returned to training earlier than planned this week after undergoing minor heart surgery.

Further up the pitch there were also concerns about Manuel Ugarte, who was forced to play for Uruguay in the World Cup qualifier against Ecuador.

The midfielder reportedly requested a substitution after complaining of pain in his right thigh.

However, Ugarte, who remained among the substitutes in the last two games against Porto and Aston Villa, is fit and is expected to be included in the squad.

United must be wary of the threat posed by Bryan Mbeumo (Squawka).

Mason Mount is also not yet available.
