Outlander fans admit they have a ‘secret crush’ on the main character | Television & Radio | Showbiz and television

Outlander enthusiasts have been eagerly anticipating the series’ fall comeback, and the countdown is already on as the release date is just a month away. The tension builds in the second half of season seven, which will premiere on Starz in November; The series has now also completed filming its epic eighth and final season.

Sam Heughan’s portrayal of Jamie Fraser has captured hearts around the world, making him the show’s undisputed heartthrob, thanks in part to his fascinating love story with Claire Fraser, portrayed by Caitriona Balfe, which is further enhanced by the duo’s remarkable chemistry .

Based on Diana Gabaldon’s acclaimed fantasy romance series, Outlander follows Claire’s time-traveling adventures back to the time of the Jacobite Rising.

While Claire and Jamie take center stage in this historical saga, Tobias Menzies plays a dual role, portraying both Claire’s first husband Frank Randall, left behind in her original timeline, and his ancestor, the notoriously brutal “Black Jack” Randall.

Although it’s difficult to develop affection for the menacing Black Jack, some fans admit they have a “secret crush” on the “stoic and passionate” Frank.

A strange admission surfaced on Reddit from a user named @Esdoornhelikoptertje, who asked the question: “Does anyone secretly have a bigger crush on Frank than Jamie?”

Adding fuel to the heated debate, they continued: “Okay, this show just made me fall in love with everyone, including Claire lol, even though I’m a woman. Everyone is so good.”

“But I didn’t think Frank was very attractive and now suddenly he’s on my mind all the time lol like Frank please I’m in a relationship! Does anyone else dream of Frank more than Jamie?

“Jamie is of course very good looking, but what for ladies who like suits and ties? Like Frank, he is friendly, a bit stoic, intelligent, reliable, conservative, passionate and doesn’t let his fire go out because his partner seems to be in dreamland. He moves on with real life and is a good father and husband. (sic)

During the series’ fan exchange, Outlander fans pondered whether Frank could compete with Jamie as the series’ alternative heartthrob.

“Frank, played by Tobias Menzies? Yes. Book Frank? No,” confessed one viewer, and another shared the opinion, explaining: “I have a soft spot for Tobias Menzies and it really shapes my view of TV Frank.” (sic)

There was consensus on the literary portrayal of Frank, as one follower remarked: “If you’ve read the books before watching the series, there’s no way.” (sic)

One fan expressed his admiration for Movie Frank and commented: “Book Frank, no, but I admit I loved him on the show. He was smart, funny and very well dressed. I love the vintage 1940s style and loved the look of it, but I also thought it was very cute. (sic)

Another fan celebrated Menzies’ performance, pointing out: “Yes… I watched Outlander because I was looking for more Tobias Menzies as I really liked him in The Terror. So I understand it.” (sic)

Some fans praised Frank’s character, with one admirer remarking: “100%!! Frank is steadfast!! He also loves Claire so much that he treated her daughter as his own. Claire didn’t treat him well.” (sic)

Meanwhile, reactions to the unexpected crush varied, with some expressing confusion and remarking: “I definitely mean no but you do you boo!” (sic)

Others didn’t shy away from criticism, with comments like: “Nope. I don’t find lying, cheating, passive-aggressive, condescending men attractive at all.”

Another wrote: “Actually no but that’s so brave of you lol.” (sic)

In contrast, one fan remained polite but dismissive: “Sorry, but that will be a no for me.” (sic)

Additionally, the conversation sparked debate about other potential heartthrobs from the series, including Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser (Duncan Lacroix) and Jenny Fraser Murray (Laura Donnelly).

Following the closure of Lionsgate+ in the UK, new episodes of Outlander will be available to stream on Starz and on Prime Video channel MGM+ from Sunday November 22nd. You must be an Amazon Prime member before you can sign up for MGM+.
