“International Solar Festival brings the world together to celebrate the impact of the sun”: PM Modi

New Delhi [India]September 5 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday extended his greetings to the people on the first International Solar Festival and said the day brings the entire world together to celebrate the impact of the sun and the festival will encourage everyone to create a better planet.

The Prime Minister said that India has made many great strides in the field of green energy in recent years and that the country’s solar energy capacity has increased 32-fold in the last decade.

“This speed and scale will also help India achieve 500 gigawatts of non-fossil energy capacity by 2030,” said Prime Minister Modi.

In a video message on his social media account X, the Prime Minister posted: “I am delighted to welcome you all to the first International Solar Festival. I congratulate the International Solar Alliance on this wonderful initiative.” “The Vedas are texts written thousands of years ago. One of the most popular mantras of the Vedas is about the sun. Even today, millions of Indians chant it daily. Many cultures around the world have respected the sun in their own way. Most regions also have festivals related to the sun,” he said.

“This International Solar Festival brings the whole world together to celebrate the power of the sun. This festival will help us create a better planet,” said Prime Minister Modi.

“In addition, 19 other countries are ratifying the framework agreement to gain full membership. The growth of this organization is important for the vision of ‘one world, one sun’. In recent years, India has made many great strides in green energy. We were the first G20 country to meet the Paris commitments in renewable energy. The remarkable growth of solar energy is the main reason that this has been possible,” he said.

Prime Minister Modi added, “Our solar energy capacity has increased 32 times in the last decade. This speed and scale will also help us achieve 500 gigawatts of non-fossil capacity by 2030.” The Prime Minister said that the progress in the country’s solar sector is the result of a clear approach and that the solar option has become affordable through special schemes and incentives.

“India’s growth in the solar sector is the result of a clear approach. Whether in India or globally, the mantra to increase solar usage is awareness, availability and affordability. We are increasing awareness about the need for sustainable energy sources by promoting domestic production. In the solar sector, we are increasing availability. Through special schemes and incentives, we have also made the solar option affordable,” said Prime Minister Modi.

“ISA is an ideal platform for exchanging ideas and best practices on solar energy. India also has a lot to contribute. As a recent policy measure, we launched the PM Suryagarh Muft Bijli Yojana a few months ago,” the Prime Minister said.

“We are investing Rs 750 billion in this programme. Our aim is to help 10 million households install solar panels on their own roofs,” the Prime Minister added. (ANI)
