New sports and outdoor smartwatch comes to Germany – Hardware

With the T-Rex 3, Amazfit is launching a new outdoor smartwatch with an extended AMOLED display in Germany. The display is 16% larger than its direct predecessor. The screen also has a slightly higher resolution. It has been increased to 1.5 inches diagonal with 480 x 480 pixels. On top of that, the screen is said to be 100% brighter. The wearable’s casing now features a high-quality stainless steel frame.

The Amazfit T-Rex 3 naturally has all the usual tricks of a smartwatch. It has an independent GPS on board, the watch can track over 170 different workouts and can use its sensors to record stress levels, pulse, blood oxygen levels and more. It can also evaluate sleep. The operating system is Zepp OS 4. Zepp is also the device’s companion app. Amazfit also advertises NFC and Zepp Pay for contactless payments. However, this only works with Mastercards from a few banks.

Amazfit mentions free offline maps and contour maps with direction announcements as additional added value. There are also improved modes for strength training, free diving and ultramarathons. The T-Rex 3 should last 27 days on one battery charge with “normal use”. It lasts 180 hours with maximum GPS use. The device weighs 68.3 g and measures approx. 48.5 x 48.5 x 13.75 mm. 22 mm wristbands can be used.

Amazfit also has an integrated AI assistant based on GPT-4o. Data protection is also said to have been improved. This means that GPS data can only be saved and secured locally if desired. The T-Rex 3 is also suitable for diving and swimming up to a depth of 45 m. The T-Rex 3 is now available in stores and costs 299.90 euros.
