Did Sony simply hide the design of the PlayStation 5 Pro? Decide for yourself

Did Sony simply hide the design of the PlayStation 5 Pro? Decide for yourself

If you can remember playing the original PlayStation 1 console back in the day, we hope the ibuprofen eases your back pain (don’t worry, I’m from the Atari 2600 era when it comes to consoles). The PS1 will have been released 30 years ago this December, and to celebrate the PlayStation’s 30th anniversary, Sony has published an anniversary blog with a look at what’s to come, and in the process may have inadvertently (or sneakily) confirmed the design of the rumored PlayStation 5 Pro.
While nothing is official yet, some journalists who attended Gamescom said the PS5 Pro was openly discussed at the event. It’s hardly a secret at this point, and the closer we get to the final release, the more frequent (and possibly more believable) the leaks and rumors will become.

In one of these recent leaks, an alleged design sketch (see above) of the PS5 Pro was published. The folks at Deallabs Magazine say they were able to get a glimpse of the final packaging of the upcoming console and subsequently shared a drawing of it. Why a drawing?
“We were able to create an image of the front of the new console’s final packaging box. This allowed us to get an idea of the PS5 Pro’s final design, which has never been leaked before. Due to copyright reasons, we cannot share this image. However, you can check out a sketch we drew below that illustrates the PS5 Pro’s design,” the site explained.

The sketch resembles the overall shape and design of the PS5 Slim. The most noticeable difference is the three additional black stripes that run across the middle of the PS5 Pro. It also appears slightly thicker and does not have a built-in Blu-ray drive. It is not clear if this means Sony will forego a drive on the PS5 Pro or offer multiple versions. Sony could also offer a Blu-ray drive as an add-on.

Back to Sony’s celebration of the PlayStation brand’s 30th anniversary, an image shared on Sony’s blog appears to show the same design. Check out the zoomed-in shot…

Maybe this was an intentional teaser, or maybe it was an unintentional oversight. Either way, add Sony’s PlayStation 30th anniversary blog post to the pile of leaks and rumors suggesting a PS5 Pro is just around the corner.
