Utah made short work of Southern Utah, scoring 28 points in the second quarter, taking a 35-0 halftime lead and a 49-0 final victory in Week 1. Quarterback Cam Rising completed 10 of his 15 throws for 254 yards and five touchdowns in a short start.

The contest will be more exciting in Week 2 against new Big 12 opponent Baylor, which defeated FCS Tarleton State 45-3 in its opener. Quarterback Dequan Finn ran for a touchdown and threw two more to offset two interceptions in the win.
