That was the name of the famous fairytale king of Bavaria. Ludwig’s grandfather also lives on the farm and tells his grandson a lot about the past and why the Bavarians do such strange things like Schuhplattler. In his school class, Ludwig is the only one who is part of a traditional costume club, but in his village there are many “Boam” and “Madln” involved. The boys practice Schuhplattler, the girls practice spinning. Wherever Schuhplattler is practiced, it is associated with customs and a primal joy of life. People will cultivate tradition. Ludwig’s mother never tires of explaining it to Ludwig. Every Thursday, Ludwig’s traditional costume group meets at the volunteer fire department. Then they practice hard for an hour. Ludwig used to go to the traditional costume group every week. Today he alternates this with football training. Ludwig’s mother is a bit skeptical about this because Ludwig has recently neglected Schuhplattler a bit because of all the football. Not to mention the art of his trumpet playing. It will never be like that if Ludwig is to play in the Truchtlaching brass band soon. And now there is something new: Goaßlschnalzen. This is also a Bavarian custom in which whips are cracked.
