Sources – Packers QB Jordan Love is said to have sprained his medial ligament

GREEN BAY, Wis. – Packers quarterback Jordan Love is expected to miss several weeks after suffering a suspected medial collateral sprain in the season-opening loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday night in Sao Paulo, ESPN’s Adam Schefter learned.

Love will undergo further tests to confirm the diagnosis. The Packers hope the injury will last three to four weeks, sources said.

Typically, MCL injuries do not require surgery.

The Packers’ first home game will be one week from Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts.

Love was trying to help the Packers on the final drive when he was injured with 6 seconds left. After a 33-yard pass to Jayden Reed that put the Packers at their 49-yard line, Love dropped back to pass on the next play, was hit by two Eagles defenders – defensive tackle Jalen Carter and linebacker Josh Sweat – and seemingly twisted his left leg on the way to the ground just as he managed to throw the ball behind him to Jacobs.

Malik Willis, who came to the Packers in a trade from the Tennessee Titans last week, accounted for the final two snaps — an incomplete pass and a sack. The only other quarterback under contract with the Packers is Sean Clifford, last year’s backup who was released last month as part of the latest round of layoffs but was re-signed to the practice squad.

Love was injured in his first regular-season game since signing a four-year, $220 million contract on July 26. The average annual contract of $55 million is tied with the contracts of Trevor Lawrence and Joe Burrow for the highest in NFL history. Love played just three snaps in the preseason opener and then sat out the final two practice games.

The Packers landed in Green Bay shortly before noon on Saturday after a flight of over ten hours from Brazil.

Local news cameras captured Love getting off the plane and leaning on the railing as she walked down the stairs.

Love did not speak to reporters after the game, and the Packers have no media appearance planned for Saturday or Sunday.
