Norwich City: Canaries questions and answers on Thorup, Sainz and centre-backs

Head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup made it very clear that he wanted to use these two weeks on the training ground to take stock and work with his players, and not to make a quick U-turn after the first league win as manager at Coventry City.

Thorup also stressed that he believes there has been a significant improvement in results and performance since the unacceptable opening day defeat in Oxford.

Norwich have three games in September, with Watford and Paul Warne’s derby still to come this month. How many points do you think they can get and which task seems the most difficult?

Before the Sky Blues’ away game, Thorup clearly indicated that Manchester City loan defender Callum Doyle and summer signing Jose Cordoba could be his first choices for central defence.

But Shane Duffy has bounced back from a difficult opening weekend in Oxford. Who would you pick to start up front in defence for the Canaries this weekend?

Fortunately, the summer transfer window is closed, but a report from Spain over the weekend suggested that La Liga club Athletic Bilbao remain interested in Borja Sainz in the longer term.

The winger scored three goals in his first six league and cup games of the season for Norwich, but with the departures of Jon Rowe and Abu Kamara and Kaide Gordon recently joining the team on loan from Liverpool, the question is how important Sainz is as a player in this transitional season for Thorup.

Is the 23-year-old a key player for the here and now and for the future, or could you see City cashing in next summer if he maintains his goalscoring rate and Norwich miss out on promotion?
