iPhone 16 & Apple Watch Series 10: What to expect tonight

iPhone 16 & Apple Watch Series 10: What to expect tonight

iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus: Small but nice innovations

The iPhone 16 and its bigger brother are the successors to the current generation and are not expected to differ dramatically in terms of appearance. However, Apple is expected to adopt the action button from the iPhone 15 Pro and replace the silent switch. The models could also get a button that serves as a shutter release for the camera.

The arrangement of the cameras on the back is to be renewed. They are to be mounted vertically on the housing instead of diagonally. This could enable the smartphones to record spatial videos for the Apple Vision Pro.

Technically, all new iPhones will be powered by the Apple A18. These are powerful enough to support Apple Intelligence, which will be introduced with iOS 18.

iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max: More of everything

The Pro models are also expected to have a shutter button. Apple is also expected to improve the camera system again. Once again, this should be particularly noticeable in poor lighting conditions. Camera fans who don’t want the Max model can look forward to it, as the regular iPhone 16 Pro is also expected to get the five-fold zoom that was reserved for the big Pro last year. On top of that, both models should be able to record 4K videos at 120 frames per second.

For the first time since the iPhone 12, the screens are set to be larger. In both cases, the diagonal is set to be 0.2 inches larger. This is primarily due to the screen edges, which are set to be thinner.

In terms of color, rumors speak of a white, gray and black case. A new model in the portfolio is said to be a gold model, which has also been referred to as “bronze” in some places.

Apple Watch Series 10: Detailed improvements

Apple’s new smartwatch, the Apple Watch Series 10, is set to be thinner and larger at the same time. Instead of screens measuring 41 and 45 millimeters diagonally, the new model will measure 45 or 49 millimeters. Apart from that, nothing fundamental will change in the aesthetics of the case.

As far as sensors go, Apple is said to be planning a revised version of the heart rate monitor that also takes over the ECG. A detection mechanism for sleep apnea is expected. What we didn’t get is the option to measure blood pressure. Such a function is said to be planned, but is not yet ready and will therefore not be offered in the Series 10.

Apple Watch SE 3: New made of plastic?

Apple could introduce a new Apple Watch SE tonight. This is aimed at users who want a popular model and want to save money. While the previous two generations have used the case of their predecessor, this time Apple is said to be using a plastic case for cost reasons, but it will be available in a variety of bright colors.

But it could also be that Apple is (slightly) postponing the Apple Watch SE 3, at least according to recent reports from the usually well-informed Mark Gurman of Bloomberg.

AirPods 4 and AirPods Max: On your ears

Apple could show new versions of headphones this evening. Specifically, AirPods 4 and AirPods Max are said to be ready. The former are said to have Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), which was previously reserved for the AirPods Pro. This creates an interesting dilemma for Apple: If they replace their predecessors and retain the most important distinguishing feature from the Pro models, what would the price be set at? According to rumors, Apple could agree on around $200.

The AirPods Max are also ripe for an upgrade. However, this could be more of a subtle remake, replacing the Lightning port with a USB-C port and slightly optimizing the sound.

What we don’t see: New iPads, Apple Watch Ultra 3

After Apple introduced the new iPad Pro in the summer with the help of a scrap press and renamed the old version “iPad Air”, a few models are still missing from the lineup. These will probably not be updated today either, as Apple is planning another keynote in October for the iPad mini 7 and the iPad 11.

Furthermore, a new generation of the Apple Watch Ultra also seemed to be “certain” along with the Apple Watch Series 10, but current reports no longer see an announcement of the outdoor watch. Instead, Apple could give the Apple Watch Ultra 2 a black color option.

It’s Glowtime: How can you be a part of it?

The easiest and most universal option is to follow the keynote on YouTube. Apple will stream the presentation there from 7 p.m.

At this point you will find an internal content from YouTube that supplements the article. You can display it and hide it again with one click.

You can also watch the event on the Apple website, where a broadcast will also take place. As usual, there will be a channel on Apple TV and the various Apple TV apps that will show the keynote.

We will of course follow the announcements and keep you informed about developments in detail.
