Lufthansa Group hopes to expand Tel Aviv flight schedule

Lufthansa Group hopes to expand Tel Aviv flight schedule

On September 5, Lufthansa Group airlines resumed daily flights to Tel Aviv after suspending operations in early August due to the war between Israel and Hamas. Management is pleased to be able to resume operations to the Israeli city and hopes to expand the flight schedule.

“I think from a commercial perspective, when you look at the Lufthansa airlines, Israel is just a very important market for us,” Frank Naeve, Senior Vice President Global Markets & Stations at Lufthansa Group, told Runway Girl Network during an event in Chicago to mark the launch of Lufthansa’s new long-haul product Allegris in the U.S. market.

“The decision to suspend operations for safety reasons was not taken lightly and the resumption is very important for us as many of our customers fly with us both from and to Tel Aviv. So we are very, very happy to be able to resume operations.”

Tal Muscal, Head of Corporate Communications for the Americas at Deutsche Lufthansa, confirmed to RGN that Lufthansa and its sister companies SWISS and Austrian operated their first flights back to Tel Aviv on September 5: “Currently, the flights are running during the day and we hope that they will expand the flights within a few weeks.”

However, given the current situation in the Middle East, Lufthansa’s scheduled flights to and from Beirut will remain suspended “until and including Monday, September 30,” the airline said in an online message, describing safety as the group’s “highest priority.”

“We regret having to make this decision. The Lufthansa Group is of course continuing to monitor the security situation closely and is in close contact with the authorities,” it said.
