Google One: New Lite subscription starts for first users – very cheap package with storage space advantage (India)

On the subscription platform Google One There have been many changes in the last few months, most of which have not necessarily been to the benefit of users. To possibly compensate for this, the new subscription Google One Lite in the starting blocks, which is now on offer for the first time after leaks in recent months. A very cheap variant with few advantages.

Until a few months ago, the Google One subscription with its various packages and benefits was an attractive plan, but the numerous features that have been removed or benefits that have been downgraded have meant that the balance is not quite right and the subscription platform has become less attractive. This will not harm the number of users due to the centrally required storage space, but Google should still make some adjustments. And that is exactly what it seems to be doing.

Now in India the new subscription Google One Lite launched. This was announced a few months ago from a teardown and is now being offered to users in the important Google country. This is a new package at the lowest level, positioned below the basic subscription. It offers 30 gigabytes of additional storage space for a price of the equivalent of 64 cents per month. The storage space can be used as usual for GMail, Google Drive and Google Photos.

All other advantages of the larger packages are not available: the storage space cannot be shared with the family, there are no additional functions in Google Photos, no store discount or anything like that. I think that a Lite package fits well with the current development and could perhaps motivate even more users to create such a subscription for the first time. It remains to be seen whether this test run in India will be successful and later rolled out globally.
