Police officers under investigation for response to Masonville murder

MASONVILLE, NY (WBNG) — New York State Police Troop C is conducting an internal investigation into its handling of a case involving the murder of a pregnant woman and the stabbing of two children on September 4 in Masonville.

That’s according to Beau Duffy, Executive Director of Public Information for the New York State Police, who said, “The New York State Police has opened an internal administrative investigation into this incident. We are unable to provide any further comment at this time as the investigation is ongoing.”

On September 4, police officers responded to a report of a domestic dispute on Houck Road. Police found Samantha J. Garnier, 29, and two children with stab wounds. Samantha Garnier, who was five months pregnant, succumbed to her injuries. The children are expected to make a full recovery.

During the investigation, state police arrested 32-year-old Drew J. Garnier.
