Solingen Paladins have to congratulate Krefeld twice

Solingen Paladins have to congratulate Krefeld twice

Solingen. The Paladins footballers’ second division season was supposed to end on August 24th. But the tragic events of the previous evening with the terrible terrorist attack at Fronhof prompted the Solingen club to take action: the cancellation was made out of respect for the victims, but also for security reasons at the time, as the suspected perpetrator was still on the run. Three weeks later, the first third division season will now come to an end – on Saturday from 3 p.m. in the Walder Stadium against the Bonn Gamecocks.

Wuppertal down, Düsseldorf and Krefeld up

In the meantime, a number of decisions have been made. The Paladins will be runners-up, their Bergisch neighbors Wuppertal Greyhounds will be relegated – Bonn is also facing the same fate. Meanwhile, following the withdrawal of the Berlin Adler from the German Football League 1, further decisions have already been made: the Düsseldorf Panthers will be promoted directly to the German Football League 1, and their Solingen rivals Krefeld Ravens will make the jump directly to the 2nd division.

“Despite our role as favorites, we will not underestimate Bonn and want to put on a great show for our audience,” says head coach Klaudiusz Cholewinski, who is fully committed to a positive ending. Some players are missing due to injury or vacation – the schedule was actually different. Club chairman Ingo Hübner Silva does not see this as a problem and is relying more on the “backup players.”

And the mood in the team. “It’s really excellent. “We want to reward ourselves one last time for our hard work this year,” reports Alexander Thomas from the coaching crew.

350 spectators see a great end to the season

The Paladins also had to give way to the Krefeld Ravens on another level. The U13 runner-up title at NRW level under the direction of head coach Olaf Friederici was nevertheless celebrated as a great success in front of 350 spectators in the Jahnkampfbahn

If we evaluate the entire season’s performance, then we can be incredibly proud of the team.

“If we evaluate the entire season’s performance, then we can be incredibly proud of the team,” said the coach, even though the title was still possible before the final match day. The 22:36 against Krefeld, however, caused celebrations on the Ravens side, while the Solingen talents followed up with an all-round convincing 46:12 against Remscheid Amboss.

Leandro Heinemann, Leander Kalinke and Tom Rischewski impressed on the last match day, as they did before. Also in focus are quarterback Ben Rüttgers and defensive ace Lenny Engels, who both made it into the NRW selection “Green Machine”. The duo will now travel to Finland with the U14 selection to play against a local selection team.
