Prosecutor escalates proceedings against CCSD trustee and asks court to declare her seat vacant

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson is seeking a court order that would force a member of the school district’s board of trustees to vacate his seat.

The district attorney’s office had been investigating allegations that Katie Williams, who represents District B, no longer lives in the district she represents on the school board.

On Wednesday morning, prosecutors announced that their investigation had produced enough evidence to request a court order requiring Williams to no longer reside in their district.

“After a thorough and comprehensive investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson concluded that Trustee Williams is no longer a resident of Precinct B and is therefore seeking a court order declaring Trustee Williams is no longer a resident,” the office said in a prepared press release.

District B includes the areas of North Las Vegas, Northwest Las Vegas, Mt. Charleston and Indian Springs. Williams was elected in 2020 to represent the district on the Board of School Trustees.

Channel 13 had previously obtained a letter Wolfson sent to Williams informing her of the investigation and asking her to resign from her position no later than September 9, 2024.

In the letter, Wolfson claimed that Williams not only no longer lived in her district, but also no longer lived in the state of Nevada.
