Whether you’re a Taylor Swift fan who notices the artist’s lucky number every time she appears, or simply a lover of all things superstitious and macabre, you probably know that this week marks the next Friday the 13th.

There are only two dates for Friday the 13th on the 2024 calendar. The first may be this week, but the second will be special for all the Swifties who celebrate it.

Here’s when Friday the 13th is next, why it’s so significant, why the Eras Tour pop star loves the number 13, and different ways to celebrate.

How many Fridays the 13th are there in 2024? And when are they?

The first of the two takes place this week, on September 13, 2024, exactly 13 weeks before the second Friday the 13th in December 2024. And Friday the 13th in December this year actually falls on the Queen’s birthday.

How old will Taylor Swift be on Friday, December 13th?

Swift will be 35 years old when her spooky Friday the 13th birthday arrives at the end of the year.

When is Swift’s birthday on Friday the 13th again?

The next time Swift celebrates her birthday on a Friday will be her 52nd (which is also divisible by 13) in 2041.

Why is Friday the 13th considered an unlucky day?

A date that inspired an entire film series and caused a phobia in many (for those who are curious: Paraskevidekatriaphobia). Why is Friday the 13th an unlucky date?

First of all, 13 is considered an unlucky number, especially in Western culture. It also has a name that describes the irrational fear of this date: triskaidekaphobia, a fear of the number 13. The History Channel says that researchers estimate that up to 10% of the U.S. population is afraid of the number 13.

But what makes this number so unlucky? According to Barry Markovsky, professor emeritus of sociology at the University of South Carolina, the explanation is not entirely clear. It could have something to do with the juxtaposition of the “lucky 12”: the number of months in the year, the gods on Mount Olympus, the signs of the zodiac and the apostles of Jesus.

He also wrote that in Norse mythology, the god Loki was the 13th to arrive at a feast in Valhalla, where he tricked another attendee into killing the god Baldur. And in Christianity, Judas – the apostle who betrayed Jesus – was the 13th guest at the Last Supper.

But the reason for the day’s bad reputation, he says, is rumors and urban legends. Westerners still tend to change their behavior on Friday the 13th, despite there being no evidence that the date has any negative effects.

Why does Taylor Swift like the number 13 so much?

Let’s go “back to December,” when her connection with the number 13 began – on December 13, 1989 in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania. On a Wednesday, not a Friday.

“I was born on the 13th, turned 13 on Friday the 13th, my first album went gold in 13 weeks,” Swift said in a 2009 interview with MTV.

Since then, she has always worn the number 13. The star painted the number on her hands with colored eyeliner during previous tours. Thirteen has also appeared on Swift’s social media, with her X-handle still listed as @taylorswift13.

In the same MTV interview, Swift told reporters that every time she won an award, she was “either in 13th seat, 13th row, 13th section, or row M, which is the 13th letter.”

News site The Tennessean also noted that many of their songs contain a 13-second intro, starting with one of their early hits, “Our Song.”

More recently, the number has crept into other areas of her life, including attending Kansas City Chiefs NFL games last season to support her boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, with the Super Bowl being the final game, and announcing her album, The Tortured Poets Department, while winning her 13th Grammy Award.

Why do Swifties write 13s on their hands?

Fans have followed her example and written the number on their hands at her concerts. Although the pop star no longer wears the number 13 on her tours, fans come to her shows with their lucky number and an additional friendship bracelet.

What are the Miami dates for the Taylor Swift Eras Tour 2024?

Swift will perform at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami from Friday, October 18 through Sunday, October 20. The Chiefs have a game on October 20.

Where is the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami?

Hard Rock Stadium is not actually in Miami. It is located at 347 Don Shula Drive Suite 102, Miami Gardens and will be the venue for Taylor Swift’s Florida concert in 2024.

Swift last performed at Hard Rock Stadium as part of her Reputation Tour in 2018. Kelce also has a shared history with the stadium: The Chiefs won the 2020 Super Bowl in Miami.

Can I still buy tickets for the Taylor Swift shows in Florida?

Tickets for all three Miami dates of Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour” sold out on Ticketmaster about a year ago, but resale tickets are available through StubHub and SeatGeek.

But beware, most of these tickets are sold by bootleggers above face value, with prices ranging from $1,000 to $10,000 per seat. For example, one of the cheapest tickets on StubHub for Miami on October 18 costs $1,915 per ticket for a “limited, restricted” view.

Not a Swiftie? No problem, here’s how to celebrate Friday the 13th without mentioning a pop star

If you’re not a Taylor Swift fan, there are plenty of ways to celebrate Friday the 13th — after all, the superstition predates the Eras Tour star’s obsession with the number.

This is how people celebrate Friday the 13th:

  • Check out the classic 1980 slasher film that shares the same name as the holiday: You can rent the original Friday the 13th movie on Plex, Apple TV, Fandango (formerly Vudu), and Amazon Prime Video for around $4, or watch it for free on FreebieTV. The 2009 remake of the film is also available to rent on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango for around $3-4.
  • Plan a Friday the 13th party: What better day to throw a party than Friday? If you really want to go all out on the theme, throw a spooky party with 13 of your closest friends.
  • Try your luck: If you’re not afraid of inviting bad luck, try some superstitions that are associated with bad luck. You can look in the mirror and say “Bloody Mary” three times, walk under a ladder, or whatever spooky superstition you want to try.
  • Treat yourself to a dozen: This one is pretty self-explanatory. A “baker’s dozen” is simply 13 of your favorite pastries, donuts, cupcakes, etc. Grab a baker’s dozen of your favorite sweet treats and share them with friends, or just keep them all for yourself.
  • Get a tattoo: Some tattoo parlors offer $13 tattoo specials every Friday the 13th. Check your local tattoo parlors’ social media accounts to see if they’re offering a flash tattoo special this Friday the 13th.
